Jose P. Moreno - FOUNDING PARTNER

Jose P. Moreno is the founder and managing partner of Pivot Capital Fund and is responsible for the firm’s daily operations and deal sourcing pipeline. In conjunction with Pivot Capital’s investment, Jose will join the company's current management team and help lead daily operations.

Before founding Pivot Capital Jose worked in private equity at Nebrodi Partners, a middle-market buyout firm with assets under management in excess of $1 billion. Prior to that, he spent 6 years at Inverlink, a leading investment bank in Colombia. There, he participated in M&A, private placements, and financing deals totaling over $1 billion. 

Jose served as a board observer for Puerto Bahía ($700mm in assets), a company owned by IFC and Pacific Rubiales Energy (2014 -15); chairman at SMT, a bio-pest company in Colombia (2015-2019) that he acquired along with a group of financial investors and then sold it to Invesa, a strategic player; and (iii) served on the board of Colbaviera, a Mitsubishi dealership in Colombia (2018).

As an entrepreneur, he started a transportation company in 2004 which expanded to three cities in Colombia and to Panama. He sold the operations in Colombia in 2016 to a strategic player but still holds the operations in Panama, where the business will grow to 170 vehicles in 2017 and 250 in 2018.

Jose holds an MBA from Yale School of Management, a Master in Economics from Universidad de Los Andes, a B.S in Business and a B.S in Economics from Universidad de Los Andes, and a B.S in Management from Tulane University.
